Rhetorical questions are powerful tools at C1 level. They do not seek an answer but implicitly assert a position. Wer würde das ernsthaft bestreiten? (Who would seriously contest that?) actually means: nobody would.
Advanced question types:
- Rhetorische Frage: asserts through negation. Ist das nicht offensichtlich? (Is that not obvious?)
- Gegenfrage: turns the question back. Und Sie, was hätten Sie getan? (And you, what would you have done?)
- Suggestivfrage: steers toward a desired answer. Sind wir uns nicht einig, dass...? (Do we not agree that...?)
Key constructions: Rhetorical questions often use modal particles like etwa (by any chance), denn (then), or schon (already): Wer hat denn schon behauptet, dass...? (Who has ever claimed that...?)
Mastering the art of questioning lets you guide an argument subtly and effectively.

Was ist gegen das?Was spricht denn dagegen?The idiomatic construction is dagegen sprechen with the modal particle denn.
Wer hat schon das gesagt?Wer hat das denn schon gesagt?Modal particles denn and schon are placed after the conjugated verb.
Kommt andere Lösungen infrage?Kommen andere Lösungen infrage?The verb must agree with the plural subject Lösungen.
