Critical Proofreading in Spanish

Critical proofreading goes beyond grammar mistakes. It checks coherence, clarity, and style.

Common C1-level errors:

Dequeísmo: Adding de before que where not needed.
❌ Pienso de que es importante. → ✅ Pienso que es importante.
Queísmo: Omitting de before que where it is needed.
❌ Me alegro que vengas. → ✅ Me alegro de que vengas.

Advanced false friends:

Realizar does not mean "to realize" (understand). It means: to carry out, to perform.
Soportar does not mean "to support" (encourage). It means: to endure, to tolerate.

Checking coherence:
Are verb tenses consistent throughout the text?
Is the register maintained from start to finish?
Does each paragraph have a clear main idea?
