The pretérito perfecto for professional experiences
The pretérito perfecto (present perfect) is widely used when talking about your career path, especially with durations or starting points.
Formation: haber + past participle
- yo → he
- tú → has
- él/ella → ha
- nosotros → hemos
- vosotros → habéis
- ellos → han
With a duration: durante
He trabajado en marketing durante cinco años.
With a starting point: desde
Soy autónomo desde 2020.
Note: with desde, Spanish typically uses the present tense (not the present perfect as in English).
