Conditional inversions (inversões condicionais) Replace se with inverted word order: Caso o governo não atue, a crise agravará. (Should the government not act, the crisis will worsen.) Caso + present subjunctive is more formal than se + future subjunctive.

Advanced reported speech For political quotes: O ministro afirmou que tomaria medidas. (The minister stated he would take measures.) O deputado negou que houvesse corrupção. Note: negar que requires the subjunctive.

Expressing political opinions Defendo que... (I advocate that...), Sou a favor de... (I am in favour of...), Oponho-me a... (I oppose...). These structures allow you to take clear political positions.
