Days and Months in Korean
Korean months and dates use Sino-Korean numbers, while days of the week have unique names.
Months (월):
- 일월 (January), 이월 (February), 삼월 (March), 사월 (April)
- 오월 (May), 유월 (June), 칠월 (July), 팔월 (August)
- 구월 (September), 시월 (October), 십일월 (November), 십이월 (December)
Dates:
- 오늘이 몇 월 며칠이에요? → What is today's date?
- 삼월 오일이에요 → It is March 5th
Days of the week come from the 5 elements + sun/moon:
- 월 (moon), 화 (fire), 수 (water), 목 (wood), 금 (gold), 토 (earth), 일 (sun)
- Each ends with 요일 to form the day name
Time reference:
- 오늘 (today), 내일 (tomorrow), 어제 (yesterday), 모레 (day after tomorrow)

Типичные ошибки
유월이월유월/이월June is 유월 (not 육월); October is 시월 (not 십월) — these are special irregular forms
오늘은 화요요일이에요오늘은 화요일이에요Day names end in 요일, not 요요일; do not double the 요
삼 월 오 일삼월 오일Month and day counters are written together without spaces: 삼월 오일
다음 주에 월요일다음 주 월요일에The time particle 에 belongs after the day (월요일에), not after 주
어제는 목요일이었었어요어제는 목요일이었어요The past tense copula is 이었어요 (one 었), not 이었었어요
