Impersonal structures are essential for expressing opinions in a nuanced and distanced way, particularly in artistic and academic discussions.
Key structures
1. Si sostiene spesso che... + indicative/subjunctive → It is often argued that... Si sostiene spesso che l''arte contemporanea sia incomprensibile al grande pubblico. It is often argued that contemporary art is incomprehensible to the general public.
2. È opinione comune che... + subjunctive → It is commonly held that... È opinione comune che le installazioni siano più accessibili della pittura astratta. It is commonly held that installations are more accessible than abstract painting.
3. Viene generalmente considerato... + adjective → It is generally considered... Questo artista viene generalmente considerato il precursore del movimento. This artist is generally considered the forerunner of the movement.
