Structuring a speech in French requires clear signposting and rhetorical techniques to guide your audience.
Opening with impact (l'accroche):
- Start with a surprising fact, a question rhétorique, or an anecdote
- "Saviez-vous que 80% des Français..." (Did you know that 80% of French people...)
Advanced transitions:
- Passons maintenant à... (Let us now move on to...)
- Il convient à présent d'examiner... (It is now appropriate to examine...)
- Cela nous amène au point suivant... (This brings us to the next point...)
Strong conclusions:
- En définitive... (Ultimately...) / En somme... (In sum...)
- Pour conclure, je dirais que... (To conclude, I would say that...)
- End with a call to action or a memorable phrase
Signposting (balises):
- Premièrement... Deuxièmement... Enfin... (First... Second... Finally...)
- D'une part... D'autre part... (On one hand... On the other...)
A well-structured speech captive the audience and persuade through clear organization.

En premier, en second, en final...Premièrement, deuxièmement, enfin...Use premièrement/deuxièmement/enfin for formal enumeration.
