Concession structures:
- Hoe het ook zij, de feiten spreken voor zich. (Be that as it may, the facts speak for themselves.)
- Desalniettemin blijft het een feit dat... (Nevertheless it remains a fact that...)
- Hoewel dit argument enige grond heeft, overtuigt het niet volledig. (Although this argument has some merit, it does not fully convince.)
Strengthening your position:
- Het staat buiten kijf dat... (It is beyond dispute that...)
- De bewijslast is overweldigend. (The burden of proof is overwhelming.)
- Dit wordt ondersteund door meerdere studies. (This is supported by multiple studies.)
Countering objections gracefully:
- Ik erken dat..., maar... (I acknowledge that..., but...)
- Men zou kunnen tegenwerpen dat..., echter... (One could object that..., however...)
- Dit bezwaar gaat voorbij aan het feit dat... (This objection overlooks the fact that...)
The key is balancing concession with firmness, showing you understand the opposing view while defending your own.
