In a bank, as in any formal context, the conditional is essential to express requests politely.
Vorrei (I would like)
*Vorrei* is the conditional form of *volere* (to want). It is the most polite way to make a request or express a wish.
- Vorrei aprire un conto corrente → I would like to open a current account
- Vorrei richiedere un prestito → I would like to apply for a loan
- Vorrei fare un bonifico → I would like to make a bank transfer
Potrebbe (Could you)
*Potrebbe* is the conditional form of *potere* (to be able to), used for polite requests addressed to your interlocutor.

- Potrebbe inviarmi l'estratto conto? → Could you send me the bank statement?
