To communicate politely with neighbours, you use conditional courtesy formulas:
- ¿Le importaría bajar el volumen? (Would you mind turning the volume down?)
- ¿Podría por favor no hacer ruido después de las 10? (Could you please not make noise after 10?)
- Me preguntaba si podría... (I was wondering if you could...)
*¿Le importaría no poner música tan tarde?*
(Would you mind not playing music so late?)
Politeness levels:
- Informal: *¿Puedes bajar la música?* (Can you turn the music down?)
- Polite: *¿Podrías bajar la música?* (Could you turn the music down?)
- Very polite: *¿Le importaría bajar la música?* (Would you mind...)
To apologise:
- *Siento mucho las molestias.* (I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.)
- *No volverá a pasar.* (It won't happen again.)
