Professional Self-Presentation Language

Writing a CV and cover letter in Japanese requires specific patterns for expressing confidence, stating contributions, and highlighting how your skills match the position.

自信を持って means "with confidence": 自分の能力に自信を持って応募いたします (I apply with confidence in my abilities). This pattern shows assertiveness while remaining professional.

に貢献する means "to contribute to": 御社の成長に貢献できると確信しております (I am confident I can contribute to your company's growth). This is the key phrase for cover letters — it shows what you will bring.

を活かす means "to make use of" or "to leverage": これまでの経験を活かして、新しい挑戦をしたい (I want to leverage my experience to take on new challenges). It connects your past to the future role.

志望動機 is "motivation for applying" and is a standard section in Japanese applications: 志望動機は、御社の理念に共感したからです (My motivation for applying is that I resonate with your company's philosophy).

These patterns are essential for anyone applying for jobs in Japan, whether writing a traditional 履歴書 or a modern職務経歴書.
