Immigration in Hindi

Advanced reported speech is essential for discussing immigration policy — newspapers report statements from politicians and officials, requiring tense back-shift.

Direct to reported speech:

Direct: मंत्री ने कहा, "हम शरणार्थियों को स्वीकार करेंगे।"
Reported: मंत्री ने कहा कि वे शरणार्थियों को स्वीकार करेंगे।

Tense changes in reported speech:

Present → Imperfect: "वह आता है" → उसने कहा कि वह आता था।
Future → Conditional: "मैं जाऊँगा" → उसने कहा कि वह जाएगा।

Key immigration phrases in Hindi media:

प्रवासियों की संख्या में वृद्धि हो रही है। *(The number of migrants is increasing.)*
शरणार्थी नीति पर बहस छिड़ी हुई है। *(Debate has erupted on refugee policy.)*
