Present Continuous in Hindi
Hindi present continuous describes actions happening right now or around this time:
Structure: Subject + object + verb root + रहा/रही/रहे + हूँ/है/हैं
- मैं काम कर रहा हूँ। — I am working. (male)
- वह रिपोर्ट लिख रही है। — She is writing a report.
- वे मीटिंग कर रहे हैं। — They are having a meeting.
रहा/रही/रहे agreement:
- रहा — masculine singular
- रही — feminine singular
- रहे — masculine plural (also polite singular)
Present simple vs continuous:
- वह रोज़ काम करती है। — She works every day. (simple = habit)
- वह अभी काम कर रही है। — She is working right now. (continuous)
अभी (abhi) = right now — a key word with present continuous

- मैं अभी मीटिंग में हूँ।Saying you are in a meeting right now
- वह ईमेल भेज रही है।Saying she is sending an email
- हम प्रोजेक्ट पर काम कर रहे हैं।Saying we are working on a project
- आज डेडलाइन है।Saying the deadline is today
- क्या तुम अभी व्यस्त हो?Asking if someone is busy right now
자주 하는 실수
वह काम कर रहा है (female subject)वह काम कर रही हैरहा is masculine — for a female subject, use रही
मैं खाना खा रहा हूँ हैमैं खाना खा रहा हूँDo not double the auxiliary — रहा हूँ already includes the verb to be
वे काम कर रहा हैंवे काम कर रहे हैंWith plural subject वे, use रहे (plural form), not रहा (singular)
