On Social Media
Hindi borrows many social media words from English:
Words like पोस्ट (posṭ), लाइक (lāik), कमेंट (kameṇṭ), शेयर (sheyar), and फ़ॉलो (folo) are used directly in Hindi with Devanagari spelling.
Using करना (karnā) with borrowed words:
To make verbs from English nouns, add करना (karnā — to do):
- लाइक करना (lāik karnā) — to like
- शेयर करना (sheyar karnā) — to share
- फ़ॉलो करना (folo karnā) — to follow
- कमेंट करना (kameṇṭ karnā) — to comment
💬 "मैं तुम्हारी पोस्ट लाइक करता हूँ।" (maiṅ tumhārī posṭ lāik kartā hūṅ.) → "I like your post."
Possessives with social media:
- मेरा अकाउंट (merā akāuṇṭ) — my account (masculine)
- मेरी प्रोफ़ाइल (merī profāil) — my profile (feminine)
- तुम्हारी फ़ोटो (tumhārī foṭo) — your photo (feminine)
Asking about social media:
💬 "तुम्हारा इंस्टाग्राम क्या है?" (tumhārā iṇsṭāgrām kyā hai?) → "What is your Instagram?"
💬 "मुझे फ़ॉलो करो!" (mujhe folo karo!) → "Follow me!"
Expressing opinions online:
- बहुत अच्छा! (bahut acchā!) — Very good! / Great!
- मज़ेदार (mazedār) — funny / entertaining
- सुंदर (sundar) — beautiful

मेरा प्रोफ़ाइलमेरी प्रोफ़ाइलप्रोफ़ाइल (profile) is feminine in Hindi, so use मेरी (merī) not मेरा (merā)
