Even native German speakers make recurring errors. Knowing them allows you to avoid them and achieve a level of precision beyond that of many Germans.

The das/dass confusion is the most widespread error. Tip: if you can replace it with *dieses* or *welches*, it is das. Otherwise, it is dass. Similarly, seit (temporal) and seid (verb sein, 2nd person plural) are constantly confused.

Scheinbar means "only in appearance" (it is not true), while anscheinend means "apparently" (it is probably true). The distinction is subtle but crucial.

Als is used in comparatives (*größer als*), wie in comparisons of equality (*so groß wie*). The mix "größer wie" is a very common spoken error.

The word einzigste does not exist: *einzig* is already an absolute superlative. And brauchen used as a modal requires zu: *Du brauchst nicht zu kommen* (not *Du brauchst nicht kommen*).
