Absolute lexical precision is the hallmark of C2 level. It is no longer about finding a word that is "roughly correct," but the treffend word — the one that captures exactly the desired nuance.
Every word has a Denotation (literal meaning) and a Konnotation (emotional and cultural associations). *Heim* and *Zuhause* both mean "home," but *Heim* evokes an institution while *Zuhause* evokes the warmth of a household. Choosing the passend word requires this sensitivity.
Prägnant writing says a lot in few words. Every adjective, every verb must be nuanciert — neither too strong nor too weak. A geglückt text is one where no word could be replaced by a better one.
The goal is evokativ and ausdrucksstark prose: words that make readers feel, not just understand. The difference between "good" and "brilliant" in German often comes down to a single präzise lexical choice.
