Persuasive writing in Dutch combines logical argumentation with rhetorical skill. At C1 level, you should construct compelling arguments that withstand critical scrutiny.

Argumentation structure: 1. *Stelling* (thesis): State clearly: *De overheid dient meer te investeren in onderwijs.* 2. *Argumenten* (arguments): *Ten eerste... Ten tweede... Ten derde...* 3. *Onderbouwing* (evidence): Facts, statistics, expert opinions 4. *Weerlegging* (refutation): *Critici beweren dat..., maar...* 5. *Conclusie* (conclusion): *Derhalve... / Al met al...*

Rhetorical devices:

Rhetorical question: *Willen wij werkelijk in zo'n samenleving leven?*
Tricolon: *Het is onrechtvaardig, onverantwoord en onaanvaardbaar.*
Appeal to authority: *Zoals professor De Vries betoogt...*

Common fallacies to avoid: *de drogreden* — *ad hominem* (attacking the person), *stroman* (straw man), *vals dilemma* (false dichotomy), *beroep op emotie* (appeal to emotion).

Call to action: End with a powerful closing: *Het is aan ons om nu te handelen.* (It is up to us to act now.) *Laten we niet langer wachten.* (Let us wait no longer.)
