Narrating travel experiences with 过
过 (guò) — the experience marker Add 过 after a verb to say you have done something before (past experience).
- 我去过北京。(Wǒ qùguò Běijīng.) — I have been to Beijing (before).
- 你吃过北京烤鸭吗？(Nǐ chīguò Běijīng kǎoyā ma?) — Have you ever eaten Peking duck?
- 我没去过长城。(Wǒ méi qùguò Chángchéng.) — I have never been to the Great Wall.
Describing impressions Use 印象很深 (yìnxiàng hěn shēn) to say something made a deep impression.
- 那里的风景给我留下了很深的印象。(Nàlǐ de fēngjǐng gěi wǒ liú xià le hěn shēn de yìnxiàng.) — The scenery there left a deep impression on me.
Use 非常难忘 (fēicháng nánwàng) for "truly unforgettable."

- 那里的文化让我印象深刻。Saying the culture impressed you deeply
- 我下次还想去。Saying you want to go again
자주 하는 실수
我去了北京。我去过北京。了 marks completed action; 过 marks life experience
你吃过吗北京烤鸭？你吃过北京烤鸭吗？Question particle 吗 goes at the very end
我不去过长城。我没去过长城。Past experience with 过 is negated with 没, never 不. 不 is for habits or the future.
