Confrontare le culture in inglese
Per parlare delle differenze culturali, puoi usare diverse strutture molto utili al livello B1.
"In my country, we..."
Questa struttura ti permette di parlare della tua cultura:
- In my country, we shake hands when we meet someone.
- In Italy, we usually greet friends with a kiss on both cheeks.
Si usa il presente semplice perché descrivi un''abitudine culturale generale.
"Compared to..."
Per fare un confronto diretto tra due culture:
- Compared to England, people in Spain eat dinner much later.
- Compared to Japan, dress codes in Australia are quite casual.
"Whereas..."
Per esprimere un contrasto nella stessa frase:
- In the UK, people queue politely, whereas in some countries, pushing ahead is normal.
- In Japan, bowing is a sign of respect, whereas in the West, people prefer handshakes.
Whereas è più formale di "but". È perfetto per i confronti culturali sia scritti che orali.
