Passivo al passato: Werd veroordeeld
L'olandese usa il passivo al passato estensivamente nei contesti giuridici e giornalistici per descrivere esiti giudiziari.
Passivo al passato (imperfetto): werd/werden + participio passato
- De verdachte werd veroordeeld tot drie jaar. — Il sospettato è stato condannato a tre anni.
- De getuigen werden gehoord door de rechter. — I testimoni sono stati ascoltati dal giudice.
Passivo al perfetto: is/zijn + participio passato
- Hij is vrijgesproken bij gebrek aan bewijs. — È stato assolto per mancanza di prove.
- De zaak is gesloten. — Il caso è chiuso.
Passivo al trapassato: was/waren + participio passato
- Het vonnis was al uitgesproken voordat... — La sentenza era già stata pronunciata prima che...
L'agente è introdotto con door (da):
- Het vonnis werd uitgesproken door de rechter. — La sentenza è stata pronunciata dal giudice.
Nelle subordinate, l'ordine verbale cambia:
- ...omdat de verdachte werd vrijgesproken. — ...perché il sospettato è stato assolto.
L'olandese giuridico preferisce fortemente il passivo per l'oggettività.
