Key grammatical patterns
Conditional inversions express hypothetical ethical stances:
- Будь у нас возможность... — Were we to have the opportunity...
- Не будь этого закона... — Were it not for this law...
Participial constructions replace relative clauses in formal writing:
- вопрос, требующий осмысления — a question requiring reflection
