Emergency number: 112
In Portugal, the universal emergency number is 112 (same as the rest of Europe).
Essential emergency phrases

Describing what happened
- Houve um acidente. → There was an accident.

At the emergency room
- Preciso de ir às urgências. → I need to go to the ER.
- É urgente! → It's urgent!

Tip: In Portugal, bombeiros (firefighters) also respond to medical emergencies. The emergency number 112 connects to all services.
