Writing a Report in Korean
Korean formal reports use specific register and structured passive constructions. -하여야 한다 expresses obligations: 다음 단계를 실행하여야 합니다. (The following steps must be implemented.)
-되었다 passive perfect frames findings: 데이터가 분석되었습니다. (The data has been analysed.)
-(으)ㄹ 필요가 있다 frames recommendations: 추가 연구가 필요합니다. (Further research is needed.)
-다고/라고 indirect speech summarises conclusions: 이 보고서는 현재 시스템이 비효율적이라고 결론짓습니다.
Korean reports follow a strict structure: 목적 (objective) → 방법론 (methodology) → 결과 (findings) → 결론 (conclusion) → 권고 사항 (recommendations). The language is dense, formal, and avoids colloquial expressions entirely.
