In Italian, to talk about the future of artificial intelligence, you use the simple future for relative certainties and potrebbe for uncertainty.
The simple future (futuro semplice)
Formation: stem + endings -rò, -rai, -rà, -remo, -rete, -ranno
Examples with AI:
- L''IA cambierà tutto. → AI will change everything.
- I robot sostituiranno molti lavori. → Robots will replace many jobs.
- Gli algoritmi prenderanno decisioni importanti. → Algorithms will make important decisions.
- Le macchine automatizzeranno la produzione. → Machines will automate production.
Potrebbe for uncertainty
Potrebbe = third person singular conditional of potere (equivalent to "could/might"):
- Potrebbe sostituire i lavori creativi. → It could replace creative jobs.
- Potrebbe avere pregiudizi nei dati. → It might have biases in the data.
- Potrebbe cambiare l''istruzione. → It could change education.
Difference in use
- Futuro semplice → confident prediction / probable trend
- Potrebbe → possibility, doubt, nuance
