To describe problems occurring during a trip, Italian uses the passato prossimo with key emergency verbs.

Ho perso... (I lost...) + the name of the lost object: Ho perso il passaporto. (I lost my passport.) Ho perso la valigia in aeroporto. (I lost my suitcase at the airport.)

Mi hanno rubato... (Someone stole my...) + the stolen object: Mi hanno rubato il portafoglio. (Someone stole my wallet.) Mi hanno rubato lo zaino sul treno. (Someone stole my backpack on the train.)

Ho smarrito... (I misplaced...) is more formal and used in official reports: Ho smarrito i documenti. (I misplaced my documents.)

The passato prossimo is formed with avere or essere + past participle: perdere → perso / rubare → rubato / smarrire → smarrito

In an emergency use subito right away not domani tomorrow

the possessive is unnecessary for obvious personal items

say essere in ritardo, not avere ritardato

valigia needs article la, and the adjective is feminine: rotta
