Writing a Report in Hindi

Formal Hindi reports use the formal passive and nominalisations extensively:

Formal passive (औपचारिक कर्मवाच्य):

यह पाया गया कि... (It was found that...)
इस अध्ययन में निष्कर्ष निकाला गया है कि... (In this study it has been concluded that...)
सिफ़ारिश की जाती है कि... (It is recommended that...)

Nominalisations convert verbs to nouns for formal tone:

विश्लेषण करना → विश्लेषण (to analyze → analysis)
क्रियान्वित करना → क्रियान्वयन (to implement → implementation)
मूल्यांकन करना → मूल्यांकन (to evaluate → evaluation)

Report structure in Hindi: 1. कार्यकारी सारांश (Executive Summary) 2. पृष्ठभूमि / परिचय (Background / Introduction) 3. पद्धति (Methodology) 4. निष्कर्ष (Findings) 5. सिफ़ारिशें (Recommendations)

Formal writing style: Uses Sanskrit-derived vocabulary, avoids contractions, uses third person passive, and employs formal conjunctions like अतः (therefore), इस प्रकार (thus), तदनुसार (accordingly).

इस रिपोर्ट का उद्देश्य यह है कि...The purpose of this report is to...
अध्ययन से यह निष्कर्ष निकला कि...The study concluded that... (formal passive)
सिफ़ारिश की जाती है कि...It is recommended that... (impersonal passive)
उपरोक्त निष्कर्षों के आधार पर...Based on the above findings...
अतः यह स्पष्ट है कि...Therefore it is clear that... (formal conclusion)
तदनुसार निम्नलिखित उपाय सुझाए जाते हैं।Accordingly the following measures are suggested.

आम गलतियाँ

~~रिपोर्ट में बोला गया कि...~~
रिपोर्ट में उल्लेख किया गया है कि...
बोला गया is spoken Hindi; formal reports require उल्लेख किया गया है (it was mentioned).
~~डेटा बहुत अच्छा है।~~
डेटा अत्यंत संतोषजनक है।
बहुत अच्छा is too informal for reports. Use अत्यंत संतोषजनक (highly satisfactory).
~~हमने पाया कि प्रॉब्लम है।~~
यह पाया गया कि समस्या विद्यमान है।
Use passive voice (यह पाया गया) and formal Hindi (समस्या not प्रॉब्लम).
~~इसलिए हम सोचते हैं कि...~~
अतः यह अनुशंसा की जाती है कि...
इसलिए हम सोचते हैं is too personal. Use impersonal अतः...अनुशंसा की जाती है.
~~रिपोर्ट खत्म होती है यहाँ।~~
उपर्युक्त विश्लेषण के आधार पर निष्कर्ष यह है कि...
Conclusions must summarize findings formally using उपर्युक्त विश्लेषण के आधार पर.
