Passive voice is essential for news in Hindi:
गिरफ़्तार किया गया — was arrested
नेता को पुलिस द्वारा गिरफ़्तार किया गया। — The leader was arrested by the police.
रिहा किया गया है — has been released
आरोपी को रिहा किया गया है। — The accused has been released.
जाँच की जा रही है — is being investigated
मामले की जाँच की जा रही है। — The case is being investigated.
The passive pattern: object + को + verb stem + किया गया / जा रहा है
Note the difference: किया गया (past passive) vs किया जाता है (habitual passive).
