Friends and Plural Pronouns in Hindi
Subject pronouns in Hindi:
- मैं (maiṅ) — I
- तुम (tum) — you (informal)
- आप (āp) — you (formal)
- वह (vah) — he/she
- हम (ham) — we
- वे (ve) — they
Verb conjugation changes with subject:
The verb हैं (haiṅ) is the plural form of है (hai):
- वह ... है — he/she is
- हम ... हैं — we are
- वे ... हैं — they are
💬 "हम दोस्त हैं।" (ham dost haiṅ.) → "We are friends."
💬 "वे अच्छे लोग हैं।" (ve acche log haiṅ.) → "They are good people."
Expressing "together":
💬 "हम साथ पढ़ते हैं।" (ham sāth paṛhte haiṅ.) → "We study together."
💬 "हम साथ खेलते हैं।" (ham sāth khelte haiṅ.) → "We play together."
Making plurals:
Hindi plurals vary: some nouns add -एँ or -ओं, others don't change:
- दोस्त (dost) → दोस्त (dost) — friends (no change!)
- लड़का (laṛkā) → लड़के (laṛke) — boys
