Conciseness is a key stylistic virtue at C1. In German, the tendency toward long, nested sentences (Schachtelsätze) is a frequent trap.
Eliminating redundancy: bereits schon (already already) becomes just bereits or schon. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt (at this point in time) becomes jetzt or damals.
Avoiding excessive nominal style: Die Durchführung der Überprüfung (The carrying out of the review) becomes Wir überprüfen (We review). Verbs are almost always more direct than nouns.
Unmasking empty phrases: Maßnahmen ergreifen (to take measures) — which measures? Diesbezüglich (in this regard) — specify the subject.
Breaking up Schachtelsätze: A sentence with more than two subordinate clauses should be split. Golden rule: one idea, one sentence.
Concise writing is not impoverished — it is disciplined and respectful of the reader.
