To discuss budgets, use conditional sentences Type I (real conditions with wenn).
Wenn + present, ... present/Futur I:

- Wenn wir weniger ausgeben, können wir in den Urlaub fahren. (If we spend less, we can go on vacation.)
Talking about money:
- Wir müssen unser Budget einschränken. (We need to cut back our budget.)
- Die Miete ist unsere größte Ausgabe. (Rent is our biggest expense.)
- Ich kann mir das nicht leisten. (I cannot afford that.)
Note: sich leisten is reflexive — the reflexive pronoun changes: ich kann mir das leisten, du kannst dir das leisten.

Ich gebe zu viel Geld.Ich gebe zu viel Geld aus.Ausgeben is separable — the prefix aus must appear at the end.
Es lohnt nicht.Es lohnt sich nicht.Lohnen is reflexive — sich is required.
Wir sollten machen ein Budget.Wir sollten ein Budget machen.The infinitive goes to the end in a modal verb sentence.
