Pros and Cons in Chinese
Chinese has powerful connectors for balanced arguments. The key patterns at B1:
不但...而且... (bùdàn...érqiě...) — not only... but also...
- 不但有优点，而且很实用。(Bùdàn yǒu yōudiǎn, érqiě hěn shíyòng.) — Not only does it have advantages, but it's also practical.
虽然...但是... (suīrán...dànshì...) — although... but...
- 虽然有缺点，但是好处更多。(Suīrán yǒu quēdiǎn, dànshì hǎochù gèng duō.) — Although it has drawbacks, the benefits outweigh them.
一方面...另一方面... (yīfāngmiàn...lìng yīfāngmiàn...) — on one hand... on the other hand...
- 一方面节省时间，另一方面费用更高。(Yīfāngmiàn jiéshěng shíjiān, lìng yīfāngmiàn fèiyòng gèng gāo.) — On one hand it saves time, on the other hand it costs more.
Key tip: 虽然 goes at the beginning of the first clause, and 但是 begins the second. Never start with 但是 alone!

但是虽然有优点，也有缺点。虽然有优点，但是也有缺点。虽然 must start the concession clause, 但是 begins the main clause — never swap their order.
不但好，而且。不但好，而且很实用。而且 must be followed by a complete idea — do not leave it dangling without content.
它的优点贵。它的缺点是贵。贵 (expensive) is a drawback, not an advantage — use 缺点 here.
一方面省钱，一方面省时间。一方面省钱，另一方面省时间。The second half needs 另一方面 (the other hand), not a repeated 一方面.
虽然但是很好。虽然有困难，但是效果很好。虽然 and 但是 each need their own full clause — you cannot skip the content between them.
