Daily Routine
Sequencing with 先...然后... (xiān...ránhòu...)
Use this pattern to describe sequences: "first...then..."
- 我先吃早饭，然后上班。 (Wǒ xiān chī zǎofàn, ránhòu shàngbān.) → I first eat breakfast, then go to work.
Time words for daily schedule
- 早上 (zǎoshang) — morning (before noon)
- 中午 (zhōngwǔ) — noon
- 下午 (xiàwǔ) — afternoon
- 晚上 (wǎnshang) — evening / night
Verb-object compounds
Many Chinese daily routine words are verb+object:
- 吃饭 (chī + fàn) = eat + rice → have a meal
- 睡觉 (shuì + jiào) = sleep + sleep → to sleep
- 上班 (shàng + bān) = go up + shift → go to work
💬 Example: "我每天早上七点起床，先洗澡，然后吃早饭。" → "Every day I get up at 7am, first shower, then eat breakfast."
