Modalverben für Pflicht und Erlaubnis
Bei Behörden ist es wichtig zu verstehen, was Pflicht, verboten oder erlaubt ist.
Pflicht
- *must / have to*: starke Verpflichtung → *You must submit the form before the deadline.*
- *need to*: praktische Notwendigkeit → *You need to bring two forms of ID.*
Keine Pflicht
- *don't have to / don't need to*: nicht erforderlich → *You don't have to pay — it's free.*
Verbot
- *must not / mustn't*: streng verboten → *You mustn't park here — it's a fine zone.*
- *can't*: nicht erlaubt → *You can't apply online for this permit.*
Erlaubnis
- *can / may*: erlaubt → *You can apply by post or online.*
- *be allowed to*: das Recht haben → *You are allowed to bring a helper.*
