Reaching C2 level means not only mastering grammar and vocabulary but also developing a voz propia — a recognizable personal voice.
Components of style
- Estilo is the unique signature of an author, the way they choose and arrange their words
- Tono reflects the author's attitude toward their subject: ironic, solemn, intimate
- Registro determines the level of formality: colloquial, standard, formal, literary
- Cadencia and ritmo give musicality to the text through sentence length and punctuation
Writing qualities
- Fluidez allows the reader to progress naturally through the text
- Concisión means expressing the maximum ideas with the minimum of words
- Elocuencia is the ability to convince and move through language
- Cohesión ensures logical links between sentences; coherencia ensures the overall logic of the text
Toward stylistic maturity
- Originalidad does not mean eccentricity but a unique perspective on things
- Autenticidad comes from alignment between what one thinks and what one writes
- Madurez estilística is the result of years of reading and writing practice
