Conditional inversions in Spanish
Conditional inversions provide a more literary and formal tone, perfect for entrepreneurial presentations.
- De haber sabido (had I known):
De haber sabido, habría invertido antes. — Had I known, I would have invested sooner.
- De haber tenido (had we had):
De haber tenido más financiación, habríamos escalado. — Had we had more funding, we would have scaled.
- De no ser por (were it not for):
De no ser por los inversores, no existiríamos. — Were it not for the investors, we wouldn't exist.
These structures remove the si and invert the order, creating a more elevated register. They are especially valued in pitches and professional speeches.
