Ethical Argumentation in Polish
Ethical argumentation involves justifying moral positions through reasoned argument in Polish discourse.
Main ethical frameworks:
- Deontology (deontologia) — focuses on duties and rules: Kłamanie jest złe samo w sobie.
- Consequentialism (konsekwencjalizm) — judges actions by their results: Kłamstwo jest złe, jeśli powoduje szkodę.
- Virtue ethics (etyka cnót) — focuses on character: Uczciwy człowiek nie kłamie.
Language for ethical debate:
- Z moralnego punktu widzenia... — From a moral standpoint...
- Mamy obowiązek... — We have an obligation to...
- Sprawiedliwość wymaga, żeby... — Justice requires that...
- To jest etycznie wątpliwe — This is ethically questionable
Constructing an ethical argument:
State the moral principle → Apply it to the situation → Draw the conclusion
- Kłamstwo narusza zaufanie (zasada) → Ta osoba skłamała (fakt) → Postąpiła nieetycznie (wniosek)
