Building Arguments in Polish
In Polish debates, aspect choice is crucial. Use the imperfective to describe ongoing processes and the perfective for completed results:
- Dyskutowaliśmy godzinami (impf.) — We debated for hours
- Rozstrzygnęliśmy kwestię (pf.) — We settled the matter
Key conjunctions for arguments:
- ponieważ / gdyż — because (formal)
- skoro — since, given that
- chociaż / mimo że — although
- pod warunkiem że — provided that
Impersonal constructions with "się" add objectivity:
- Należy podkreślić, że... — It should be noted that...
- Można twierdzić, że... — One may argue that...

- Chciałbym podkreślić, że...I would like to emphasize that...
- Mój argument opiera się na...My argument is based on...
- Trudno zaprzeczyć, że...It is hard to deny that...
- Z drugiej strony należy zauważyć...On the other hand, note that...
- W świetle tych faktów...In light of these facts...
