Punctuation Subtleties
这一课还没有你的语言版本 — 先以英文显示。
Korean punctuation follows its own conventions distinct from Western systems. The comma (쉼표) separates clauses and list items, while the full stop (마침표) ends declarative sentences. The ellipsis (줄임표 …) conveys hesitation, unfinished thought, or emotional weight — a powerful stylistic device in literary and formal prose. Korean uses both angle quotation marks (「」) and standard double quotes (""): the angle form appears in formal and literary texts, double quotes in journalistic writing. The colon (쌍점) introduces lists or elaborations, while the semicolon (쌍반점) links closely related independent clauses. At C2 level, mastering punctuation means using these marks to control pace, emphasis, and tone — not just to follow grammar rules.
