Asking for and Giving Directions
To ask for directions, say すみません、〜はどこですか (Excuse me, where is...?) or 〜への行き方を教えてください (Please tell me how to get to...).
For giving directions, use: まっすぐ行ってください (Go straight), 右に曲がってください (Turn right), 左に曲がってください (Turn left). Combine with landmarks: 信号を右に曲がってください (Turn right at the traffic light), 交差点をまっすぐ行ってください (Go straight at the intersection).
To describe transport, use で for the means: バスで行きます (I go by bus), 地下鉄で行きます (I go by subway). On foot is 歩いて行きます (I walk there). To ask which transport: 何で行きますか (How do you get there?). Duration uses かかります: 駅まで10分かかります (It takes 10 minutes to the station).
