At B2 level, certain structures allow you to approach a topic in a nuanced and academic way. These formulas are essential for debates on technology and ethics.
1. Pone la questione se… (Raises the question of whether…)
Introduces an open problem, often followed by the subjunctive.
- L''uso dell''IA pone la questione se sia possibile garantire la neutralità degli algoritmi.
— The use of AI raises the question of whether it is possible to guarantee the neutrality of algorithms.
- Questo sistema pone la questione se il consenso sia davvero libero.
2. Solleva interrogativi su… (Raises questions about…)
Introduces a doubt or concern, followed by a noun or noun phrase.
- La sorveglianza di massa solleva interrogativi sulla tutela della privacy.
— Mass surveillance raises questions about the protection of privacy.

3. Ci si chiede se… (One wonders whether…)
Impersonal form to express a collective questioning, followed by the subjunctive.

Pone la questione della privacy sia tutelata.Pone la questione se la privacy sia tutelata.With 'pone la questione', use 'se' + subjunctive, not 'della' + subjunctive.
