I don't believe it;你需要指出怀疑的依据和层次:

  • “The claim is unsubstantiated by any peer-reviewed evidence.” ——
  • “One might question the epistemological assumptions underlying this narrative.” ——
  • “The framing of this report appears to serve particular ideological interests.” ——
  • “While not provably false, this statement is deliberately misleading.” ——

与中文相比,学术和新闻英语更常把判断写进限定结构,如 appears to、has been shown to 和 is unsubstantiated。

  • To take something at face value
  • To muddy the waters
  • A grain of truth
  • To spin a narrative
  • Beyond reasonable doubt
  • To fact-check in real time在发言或辩论进行时即时核查事实
  • To sow doubt
  • Information warfare

  • Fake news is when the news is false.
Disinformation refers to deliberately fabricated or misleading content designed to deceive; 'fake news' has become a politically weaponised term and should be used with care.

  • The politician lied about the economy.
The politician's statements on the economy were inconsistent with verified data and appear to have been deliberately misleading.

  • Social media causes polarisation.
Algorithmic amplification on social media platforms has been shown to exacerbate existing societal divisions by disproportionately promoting emotionally engaging — often polarising — content.

  • Misinformation and disinformation are the same thing.
Misinformation refers to false information spread without intent to deceive; disinformation involves deliberate intent — the distinction is legally and analytically significant.

  • The post-truth era means nobody believes anything.
The post-truth era is characterised not by universal scepticism, but by a selective rejection of inconvenient facts and an increased reliance on emotionally resonant narratives.

    'Nobody believes anything'

  • The article was biased because the journalist had an opinion.
The article exhibited bias — but having an opinion is not itself a journalistic failing. Bias refers to a systematic distortion of evidence, not the mere presence of a perspective.
