阅读英语科学论文：结构与策略
阅读英语学术论文需要有条理的方法。国际科学期刊中的论文大多采用 IMRaD 结构。本节用中文讲解英语学术阅读。
- Introduction：研究背景、文献缺口和研究假设
- Methods：研究方案、参与者和数据收集工具
- Results：原始数据、表格和图示
- Discussion：解读结果、局限与意义
IMRaD 的 D 代表 Discussion；Conclusion 有时会单列，具体取决于期刊，而不是 IMRaD 的独立字母。
学术名词化
学术英语的显著特点是名词化：把动词或形容词变成名词，使文风更紧凑、更客观。
- investigate → the investigation of
- discuss → a discussion of
- analyse → the analysis of
- conclude → the conclusion that...
示例："We investigated how stress affects memory." → "The investigation of the relationship between stress and memory reveals..."
C1 阶段的高效阅读策略
不要按顺序逐字阅读。更有效的顺序是： 1. 先完整阅读 abstract 2. 跳到结论，了解主要结果 3. 回看 discussion，理解研究意义 4. 查看 methodology，评估研究有效性 5. 带着结论再读引言
表达
- The study concludes that...报告科学论文的主要结论
- The findings suggest that...呈现结果但不将其说成定论
- A key limitation of this study is...指出研究的方法论弱点
- The implications for X are significant强调结果在实践或理论上的意义
- As demonstrated by the data...借助实证证据支撑某一观点
- The hypothesis was supported / refuted说明结果是否支持或推翻假设
- Further research is needed to...提出未来研究方向
- The sample consisted of...描述所研究样本的构成
常见错误
The research concludes that sleep is good.The research suggests / indicates that sleep deprivation may impair cognitive function.学术论文很少使用如此笼统或绝对的说法。hedging（如 suggest、indicate、may）是常规做法。
The author investigated about memory.The author investigated memory.Investigate 不与 about 连用，应为 investigate + 直接宾语。
The conclusion is the same like the hypothesis.The conclusion is consistent with / corroborates the hypothesis.Same like 不正确。学术英语可用 consistent with、corroborates 或 supports。
The methodology was very good.The methodology was robust / rigorous / well-designed.Very good 对学术语境而言太口语化；应使用研究领域的具体形容词。
The article was peer-reviewed by two persons.The article was reviewed by two independent reviewers.Persons 在语法上正确但不够具体；同行评审通常由独立 reviewers 完成，因此后者更准确。
The study was made on 500 participants.The study was conducted on 500 participants.学术英语说 conduct a study，不说 make a study；make 在科学语境中太泛泛。
