用英语比较不同文化
聊文化差异,B1 阶段有几个特别好用的句型。
"In my country, we..."
用来讲自己国家的做法:
"In my country, we shake hands when we meet someone." → "在我们国家,见面握手。"
"In China, we usually give gifts with both hands." → "在中国,送礼一般用双手。"
描述一种普遍的文化习惯,用一般现在时。
"Compared to..."
直接拿两种文化对比:
"Compared to England, people in Spain eat dinner much later." → "跟英国比,西班牙人晚饭吃得晚多了。"
"Compared to Japan, dress codes in Australia are quite casual." → "跟日本比,澳大利亚的着装要随意得多。"
"Whereas..."
在同一个句子里表达对比:
"In the UK, people queue politely, whereas in some countries, pushing ahead is normal." → "英国人排队很规矩,而有些地方插队很平常。"
whereas 比 but 正式,写文章、口头比较文化都很合适。
其他有用的说法
- It is considered rude to... → 做……被认为很无礼
- It is common to... → ……很常见
- People tend to... → 人们往往……

- In my country, we tend to...讲自己文化里的习惯
- It's considered rude to...说明什么算失礼
- Compared to other countries...拿别的国家来做比较
- Whereas in...在一句话里做出对比
- When in Rome, do as the Romans do谚语:入乡随俗
- To adapt to得适应当地的习俗。
- When in Rome到了哪儿就照哪儿的规矩来。
- Culture shock刚到的时候我有点文化冲击。
常见错误
In my country, we are shake handsIn my country, we shake hands一般现在时里,实义动词前面不加 be 动词。
Compared with England, France is more formalCompared to England, France is more formal日常这个语境里习惯说 compared to,不说 compared with。
It is considered rude do thatIt is considered rude to do thatit is considered rude 后面用 to + 动词原形。
Whereas but in Japan...Whereas in Japan...whereas 本身已经含有 but 的意思,两个不能一起用。
In my country, people is friendlyIn my country, people are friendlypeople 在英语里是复数,谓语用 are。
I am not habituated to thisI am not used to this日常英语说 be used to,不用 habituated 这个词。
