Choosing the right demonstrative
- Near (this/these) — deze (dit)
- Far (that/those) — die (dat)
- Deze jurk is mooi. (This dress is nice.)
- Dit shirt is te groot. (This shirt is too big.)
- Die schoenen zijn duur. (Those shoes are expensive.)
- Dat jasje is van leer. (That jacket is made of leather.)
Sizes
- klein (S) — small
- middel (M) — medium
- groot (L) — large
Trying on clothes
- Mag ik dit passen? (Can I try this on?)
- Waar is de paskamer? (Where is the fitting room?)
- Het past niet. (It doesn't fit.)
- Het staat je goed! (It looks good on you!)

常见错误
Kan ik dit proberen?Mag ik dit passen?Use "passen" for trying on clothes, not "proberen" (which means to try in general).
Deze broek zijn te groot.Deze broek is te groot."Broek" is singular in Dutch (unlike English "pants").
Dit jurk is mooi.Deze jurk is mooi."Jurk" is a de-word, so use "deze" (not "dit" which is for het-words).
In welke maat?Welke maat?No preposition needed: just "Welke maat heeft u?"
