Living Together: Setting Rules and Communicating
轮流 (lúnliú) for taking turns:
- 我们轮流打扫卫生间。(wǒmen lúnliú dǎsǎo wèishēngjiān) — We take turns cleaning the bathroom.
- 谁做饭、谁洗碗是我们定好的规则。(shéi zuòfàn, shéi xǐwǎn shì wǒmen dìng hǎo de guīzé) — Who cooks and who washes dishes is a rule we've set.
不但…而且… for expressing good roommate qualities:
- 我的室友不但很整洁，而且很体贴。(wǒ de shìyǒu búdàn hěn zhěngjié, érqiě hěn tǐtiē) — My roommate is not only very tidy but also very considerate.
Key phrases for shared living:
- 我们提前定好规则吧。(wǒmen tíqián dìng hǎo guīzé ba) — Let's set the rules in advance.
- 有问题要坦诚地沟通。(yǒu wèntí yào tǎnchéng de gōutōng) — If there's an issue, communicate honestly.
- 我希望我们能好好相处。(wǒ xīwàng wǒmen néng hǎohǎo xiāngchǔ) — I hope we can get along well.
表达
- 我们应该轮流做家务We should take turns doing household chores
- 我们提前说好规则吧Let's agree on the rules in advance
- 有矛盾要直接沟通If there's a conflict, communicate directly
- 我室友很好相处My roommate is easy to get along with
- 我们分担房租和水电费We split the rent and utility bills
常见错误
我们轮流地打扫。我们轮流打扫。轮流 is already an adverb — no 地 needed between it and the verb. Just say 轮流打扫.
室友和我沟通得不好地做。我和室友沟通得不够好。得不够好 (not well enough) is the correct complement — the original is grammatically confused. Subject should be 我.
我们分担了房租的费用。我们分担房租。分担 already means to share/split — 的费用 (the expenses) is redundant after 房租.
矛盾发生了我们之间。我们之间发生了矛盾。Location/scope phrases like 我们之间 come before the verb — 我们之间发生了矛盾 (a conflict arose between us).
我希望住好好一起。我希望我们能好好住在一起。好好 (properly / well) should come before the verb 住 — 好好住在一起. Also add the subject 我们 and the modal 能.
