Moving In: Talking About a New Home
把 for settling in tasks:
- 我把家具都搬进去了。(wǒ bǎ jiājù dōu bān jìnqù le) — I moved all the furniture in.
- 我把合同仔细看了一遍。(wǒ bǎ hétong zǐxì kàn le yī biàn) — I read the contract carefully once through.
需要…才能… for conditions:
- 需要交押金才能入住。(xūyào jiāo yājīn cái néng rùzhù) — You need to pay the deposit before moving in.
Useful phrases when moving in:
- 请问暖气怎么开？(qǐngwèn nuǎnqì zěnme kāi) — How do you turn on the heating?
- 房东说水电费另算。(fángdōng shuō shuǐdiànfèi lìng suàn) — The landlord said utilities are charged separately.
- 这套房子装修得很好。(zhè tào fángzi zhuāngxiū de hěn hǎo) — This apartment is nicely renovated.

常见错误
我搬进来新家了。我搬进新家了。搬进 already implies entering — 来 is redundant. Use 搬进新家了.
房东给了钥匙给我。房东把钥匙给了我。Use 把 when transferring an object to someone — 把钥匙给了我 (gave the key to me).
合同我仔细看了一遍。我把合同仔细看了一遍。把 construction is needed to show you processed the contract — 我把合同仔细看了一遍.
押金是三个月房租的价格。押金是三个月的房租。价格 (price) is redundant after 房租 (rent) — just say 三个月的房租.
这套房子装修很好。这套房子装修得很好。When describing how well something is done, use the complement marker 得 — 装修得很好.
