Finding Your Voice
Этот урок пока не доступен на вашем языке — показываем его на английском.
Finding your voice in Korean means developing a 문체 (style) that is authentically yours — recognizable across different texts through consistent choices of rhythm, diction, and structure. Korean literary style varies enormously: Park Wan-seo's prose is dense and psychologically probing; Han Kang's is sparse and imagistic. Your voice emerges from conscious decisions: sentence length (long, winding sentences vs. short, staccato impacts), vocabulary register (formal, poetic, colloquial), and recurring imagery. A key challenge is avoiding 모방투 (imitative style) — writing that mimics a studied author rather than discovering your own stance. Self-consistency matters: 일관성 in tone, register, and worldview across a piece signals authorial control. Experiment with 개성적 표현 — unexpected word combinations, syntactic inversions, or unique metaphors that only you would choose. Your voice is not found; it is built through sustained, deliberate practice.

나는 한강처럼 쓰고 싶어요한강의 문체를 분석하고 그 기법에서 영감을 받되, 나만의 독창적인 목소리를 발전시키는 것이 목표입니다Wanting to write like someone else is imitation, not development. C2 writers analyze techniques for inspiration (영감을 받다) while consciously developing their own voice (독창적인 목소리를 발전시키다).
내 글이 별로예요제 문체는 아직 일관성이 부족하고 개성적인 표현을 더 발전시켜야 할 단계입니다별로예요 is vague self-criticism. Meaningful self-evaluation identifies specific weaknesses: 일관성 부족 (lack of consistency) and the need to develop 개성적 표현 (distinctive expression).
문체는 타고나는 거예요문체는 광범위한 독서와 의식적인 글쓰기 훈련을 통해 점진적으로 형성됩니다Claiming style is innate (타고나다) is a fixed mindset. C2-level understanding recognizes style as formed through 의식적인 훈련 (conscious practice) and 광범위한 독서 (extensive reading).
어조가 뭔지 모르겠어요어조는 텍스트에서 작가의 태도와 감정적 입장이 언어적으로 표현되는 방식입니다어조가 모르겠다is a learning gap, not an error — but C2 speakers must be able to define and deploy metalinguistic concepts precisely. This is the correct definition.
제 글은 개성이 없어요제 문체는 아직 뚜렷한 특징이 형성되지 않아 더 다양한 쓰기 실험이 필요합니다개성이 없다 is too blunt and defeatist. The precise formulation identifies what is lacking (뚜렷한 특징) and prescribes what is needed (다양한 쓰기 실험).
