Subordinate Clauses with weil
In German, weil (because) introduces a subordinate clause (Nebensatz). The key rule: the conjugated verb goes to the end of the subordinate clause.
Structure
Main clause + weil + ... + Verb (at the end)
Ich bin motiviert, weil ich gerne im Team arbeite. — I am motivated because I like working in a team.
Ich will diese Stelle, weil sie interessant ist. — I want this position because it is interesting.
With a Modal Verb
Ich bewerbe mich, weil ich neue Erfahrungen sammeln will. — I am applying because I want to gain new experiences.
Tip
In the subordinate clause, the conjugated verb always goes to the very end — even if there is a complement or infinitive.
Ich bin flexibel, weil ich mich schnell an neue Situationen anpassen kann.
