Nominalisation is a key feature of French academic writing. It transforms verbs into nouns, making text more formal and concise.
Verb to noun transformations:
- investiguer → l'investigation (to investigate → the investigation)
- analyser → l'analyse (to analyze → the analysis)
- développer → le développement (to develop → the development)
- observer → l'observation (to observe → the observation)
In context:
- Informal: Les chercheurs ont observé que... → Formal: L'observation des chercheurs indique que...
- Informal: On a analysé les données. → Formal: L'analyse des données révèle...
Structure of a French scientific article: 1. Résumé — Abstract summarizing key findings 2. Introduction — Context and hypothèse (hypothesis) 3. Méthodologie — Methods and variables 4. Résultats — Findings 5. Discussion — Implications and limites (limitations) 6. Conclusion — Summary and future directions
Nominalisation makes academic writing denser but more precise — essential for C1-level comprehension.

Типичные ошибки
Le resume de l'article...Le résumé de l'article...Résumé needs both accents (é). Don't drop them like the English "resume" — that spelling is wrong in French.
La methodologie utilisée...La méthodologie utilisée...Méthodologie requires an accent: é, not e.
Les résultats montrent de que...Les résultats montrent que...Montrer que does not take the preposition de.
L'hypothèse est confirmé.L'hypothèse est confirmée.Hypothèse is feminine, so the past participle must agree: confirmée.
Les implications de cette recherche est...Les implications de cette recherche sont...Implications is plural, requiring sont, not est.
