Making suggestions: ¿Quedamos...? / ¡Vamos a...! / ¿Qué tal si...?
In Spanish there are several ways to suggest doing something together:
¿Quedamos...?
This is the most casual way to suggest meeting up. It literally means "Shall we meet up...?"
Example: "¿Quedamos el sábado?" → "Shall we meet up on Saturday?"
¡Vamos a + infinitive!
Use this to enthusiastically suggest an activity. It means "Let's...!"
Example: "¡Vamos a cenar fuera!" → "Let's go out for dinner!"
¿Qué tal si + present tense?
A softer way to propose something. It means "How about if...?"
Example: "¿Qué tal si vamos al cine?" → "How about if we go to the cinema?"
Accepting and declining
Accepting:
- ¡Vale! → OK! / Alright!
- ¡Buena idea! → Good idea!
- ¡De acuerdo! → Agreed!
- ¡Me apunto! → Count me in!
Declining:
- Lo siento, no puedo. → Sorry, I can't.
- Es que estoy ocupado/a. → The thing is, I'm busy.
- ¿Qué tal otro día? → How about another day?

¿Quedamos en las ocho?¿Quedamos a las ocho?For times, use 'a las' (at), not 'en las'. 'En' is for places, 'a' is for times.
Vamos a ir al cine.¡Vamos al cine!'Vamos a' already implies going - don't add 'ir' after it.
Estoy ocupado para el sábado.Estoy ocupado el sábado.Don't use 'para' with days of the week. Just say 'estoy ocupado + el + day'.
¿Qué tal si quedamos? (no time/place)¿Qué tal si quedamos el viernes en el parque?Always specify when or where - a bare question sounds incomplete.
Yo soy libre mañana.Estoy libre mañana.'Libre' (available) uses 'estar', not 'ser'. It's a temporary state.
¡Bueno idea!¡Buena idea!'Idea' is feminine, so the adjective must be feminine too: buena, not bueno.
